ANTIQUE SILVER BEAKERS_CUPS

Antique Silver Beakers / Cups Description:

A type of drinking vessel normally cylindrical in shape, and having tapering walls.

Antique Silver Beakers /Cups History:

The earliest known examples date from the 16th century but they are rare in silver before 1650. The vast majority were made in the 19th century and they are still being made today.

Antique Silver Beakers / Cups Design:

Most have a flat base but there were a few made with a stemmed foot. Decoration varied from very plain early styles, through heavily engraved Victorian examples. Their interiors were often gilded to prevent corrosion.

Antique Silver Beakers / Cups Collectors Note:

The level of craftsmanship and their aesthetic qualities determine their value. But they must also be undamaged with good clear hallmarks and crisp detail.
