Antique Victorian sterling silver and hand-cut crystal claret jug, having a cast grape and vine mount on a plain round baluster body with star-cut base, a cast vine tendril handle, and with a hinged mechanical lid. Made by George John Richards of London in 1856. Height 30.5 cms (12 inches), diameter at base 14 cms (5.5 inches).
